This pattern is available for free.

This pattern allows for a lot of creative exploration because at its heart, it involves basic elements that are eager to be played with by you as a maker. Inspired by the Pooling by the Pool Shawl pattern by Chic and Regal Knits and the ultra glamorous Tangerine Twlight from my friend at Knitique Yarns, this pattern features DYO and TYO knit stiches that open up the fabric to reveal a hidden leaf shape that is visible from both sides. Follow the technique guidelines below for clean edges and a sturdy final project.

While originally created for the Houseplant HortOCCULTure colourway, this pattern would look great with any colourway from Arcane Fibre Works, such as Bountiful Bouquet or Here Comes the Sun.

About the Designer and Collaboration

Devin Hunter is a bestselling and award-winning author, artist, podcaster, and professional witch from the San Francisco Bay Area who is best known for his book Modern Witch | Spells, Recipes, and Workings. He has appeared on television shows like ABC’s To Tell The Truth and his podcast is the only of its kind to be endorsed by both the AV Club and Glamour Magazine.

Devin’s newest release, Houseplant HortOCCULTure, explores the metaphysical relationship between plant people and their indoor allies. Featuring a foreword from bestselling author Juliet Diaz and art from award-winning artist Siolo Thompson, Houseplant HortOCCULTure is a beautiful journey through the magick and mystery of the green flame. Get your copy everywhere books are sold!

Arcane Fibre Works has partnered with Devin to celebrate the release of Houseplant HortOCCULTure by developing a limited edition colourway based on the cover! Featuring charcoal, gold, and multiple green accents, this hand dyed artisanal yarn embodies the special relationship houseplant fanatics have with foliage friends. Just like the book, this colourway is filled with magic, elegance, and is dying to become a part of your collection!

This is Devin’s first dip into designing and has created two simple assigned pooling patterns using Arcane Fibre Works DK in the Houseplant HortOCCULTure colourway to show off what is possible with even just one skein! Check back throughout the summer to find more exclusive patterns using this colourway as our collaboration continues.
