The Forest of First Socks began with a problem. I had some hand-dyed yarn that was striping, and wanted to disrupt this so it wasn’t so obvious. After considerable research and mulling, I came up with this easy slip stitch pattern that blends the rows a little, and adds an interesting texture reminiscent of fir trees in a forest.

Instructions are given for one size. To make smaller or larger sizes socks, I advise using smaller or larger needles. You can also increase the stitch count in increments of 4 sts, ie. 56 or 64 sts. Advice is given on how to adjust the ribbing accordingly.

Happy knitting!
