Forte’ is knit from the top down and has a crescent shape once blocked. Instructions for the Lace Forte’ or Stockinette Forte’ with lace edging includes three sizes. This unique pattern is fully charted and includes written directions for each style. Overall sizing may also be adjusted with needle and yarn size.

The project begins with a provisional cast on and has a garter stitch border. Increases and decreases create interesting swirls in the fabric as the pattern progresses and are enhanced by the use of silk or tencel blends. Projects may be finished with either a loose or crocheted bind off method.

Beginning lace knitters will enjoy the simplicity while more experienced knitters will enjoy the unusual concept. The featured Forte’ is the Lace shawl knit with 550 yards of Handmaiden Seasilk Periwinkle and size 4(US) needles.
