Forty Love
Take an introductory 20% off with code TENNIS20 until Monday, September 1st.
Forty Love is a modern spin on the classic tennis sweater. The garment is a set-in-sleeve pullover worked flat and in-pieces from the top-down in a plush cable rib pattern. Knitters can choose to make the garment using a simple intarsia split or make the main stitch pattern all in one color. Knitters can additionally choose to make full sleeves or keep it as a vest. Once established, the cable rib pattern and the optional intarsia split is not broken. This makes this garment a straightforward, but engaging knit.
First, the back is worked flat with shaped shoulders, after the back yoke panel is shaped, the body is worked down through the hem. The front yoke panels are picked up directly along the back panel. The V-neck is then shaped and the front panels continue through the underarm, then the body all the way to the 2x2 ribbed hem. If making sleeves, the sleeve cap is picked up around the armholes and shaped using short rows and then worked flat to the cuff. The garment is then blocked to dimensions and then seamed. If making a vest, armhole ribbing is added. Finally the collar is picked-up and worked.
Forty Love includes 10 sizes with a finished chest circumference of 34” to 70” (86.5 to 178 cm). This pattern also features gender-inclusive sizing. For each of these 10 sizes, two sizes are graded based on shoulder widths, which is one of the primary ways bodies proportionally vary for those with the same chest size. This means there are 20 unique sizes in this pattern.
Choose to make the Narrow Shoulder size if the recipient finds that the shoulders on womenswear garments fits them well or the shoulders of menswear garments are too wide. Make the Broad Shoulder size if the recipient finds that the shoulders on menswear garments fits them well or the shoulders on womenswear garments are too narrow.
Here is list of all the options presented in the pattern:
- A simple intarsia split in the main stitch pattern
- Full sleeves or vest
- Cropped or full body lengths
- 2 different instructions for full sleeves
