Fractured Light
A celebration of color born from shattering light.
FRACTURED LIGHT is inspired by the phenomenon of light splitting into a full spectrum of color creating a visual reminder that beauty and strength often emerge from places that are cracked open. Tibetan Cloud, with its richly varied palette, becomes the perfect medium for exploring this idea. Its shades can be expressed in quiet simplicity or layered into vibrant arrangements of many.
This collection includes four pieces: a scarf, a cowl, fingerless mitts, and a hat. Just as light fractures into countless hues, these accessories offer multiple ways to play with the extraordinary colors of mYak’s Tibetan Cloud. Whether worn together as a set or individually, each piece brings warmth, color, and personality to winter days and nights. The palette options range from bold and expressive to calm and understated, allowing you to choose the style that moves you.
Fractured Light will be updated over the course of six months as each accessory pattern is added. You’ll receive every piece in the collection and every palette option at no additional cost, giving you the full spectrum of patterns for your initial purchase price.
CONSTRUCTION NOTES:
Starting with a provisional cast on the scarf is knit in the round creating a tube that will be bound off using the 3 needle bind off method at both ends of the scarf. Starting with CC A, leaving a 62 in/158 cm tail for the 3 needle bind off, the first row is knit before joining in the round. Upon joining in the round purl stitches are used at the beginning and at the half way mark to distinguish faux seams on either side of the scarf.
The 14 color palette has 3 versions: Version 1 is 14 stripes, Version 2 (sample) is 28 stripes and Version 3 is 56 stripes. The sample was created using Version 2, 16 rounds for each color stripe and one extra round at the beginning and end to hold the tassels.
The neutral palette is 5 colors. The sample uses color blocks, Version 4. With the 5 colors feel free to divide out the rows and break the 5 colors into the striping of your choice.
Weave in the ends as you go by anchoring the tail of the next color over 8 stitches before the color change and then anchor the tail of the previous color over first 8 stitches of the new color. Both ends are then bound off using a 3 needle bind off. There is enough yarn left over for tassels if you choose to complete the look.
