This friendship cowl knitting pattern is the perfect stash buster project and provides a splash of colour on misty grey autumn days. Its really flexible in the number of ways that it can be worn.

You need a minimum of 10g of yarn in each colour, and could have fun with many different possible colourways. My version was inspired by stained glass windows. I used DK, and the pattern is written for this, but could easily be adapted to different tension (gauge) and different weight of yarn by including fewer strands in the braid.

The pattern is an intermediate knit, requiring techniques such as picking up stitches, decreasing and increasing, short rows and very basic intarsia.

The pattern can be the basis for many things - the cowl, a scarf, a shawl or blanket. For advice on adapting this pattern into a scarf and other items, please see my blog.
