This pattern is inspired by traditional patchwork quilting designs. it looks complicated, but knits together easily, making a good next project for a beginner wanted to challenge themselves.

You will need to use the following techniques: central double decrease, picking up stitches, short rows (for the edging only).

You can make this scarf from one colour, or many different colours to give a scrappier look, so its good for using up the stash. The pattern is written for Aran yarn, on 5mm needles.

Please do take a look at my blog, where I give advice on substituting yarns - including other yarn weights, and also other modifications of the base pattern.
