The sweater is worked from the top down with increases for raglan along the yoke. The neckline is first worked in 1x1 rib, and then German Short Rows are worked across the back and shoulders. The short rows create an extension of the neck and give the neckline a neat shape. The body is finished with colorwork, followed by 1x1 rib and an Italian bind-off.

Pattern
The pattern for the two smallest sizes has been adjusted to fit the length of the body and is smaller than the larger sizes (and the adult version). For sizes 1–2, 5–6, and 7–8 years, vertical stripes have been added on both sides to match the stitch count of the body.

Sizes
The sizes are calculated based on a positive ease of approximately 15 cm, which you add to your child’s chest measurement. For example, if the child has a chest measurement of 59 cm, it is recommended to knit size 5–6 years, which will provide an ease of 14 cm. The lengths of the sleeves and body are adjusted to fit the child.
