A simple garter stitch triangle that is worked flat and seamed together into a cowl, with a drop-stitch fringe - no worrying about loose shawl ends slipping off your shoulder! The cowl starts on one end and increases to the middle point, then decreases down the other side. Joining is done with either the mattress stitch, or using a provisional cast on and kitchener stitch to join the sides. With this quick, easy pattern you’ll want to make a couple in different colors, and it’s a great way to use up scraps of worsted weight yarn (or two strands of fingering weight yarn held together).

Gauge is not very important in this pattern, although it does use almost a whole skein of 100g worsted weight yarn. If you have a scale you can stop increasing when half of the yarn remains, otherwise follow the pattern for when to begin decreases.
