These mittens, perfect for chilly winter months, feature colorwork motifs that are relatively simple yet engaging, for new and experienced knitters alike. Details include a cozy lined cuff, and a well-fitted thumb gusset.
The design was inspired by an early-morning viewing of our local Bald Mountain on my way to work. It is a very steep little mountain with open land around, and on that morning, the sun was just starting to peek up over the eastern horizon. There are many spruce and fir trees on the mountain and the frost glistened on the trees closest to the summit. The lower the elevation, the less frost—it was just like a gradient yarn!
These mittens will help keep you cozy and warm while enjoying some peace and solitude in nature—even when it’s below freezing!
