This Afghan project is hand knitted as individual motifs which are worked corner to corner (C2C) and then joined together. If you know how to do knit stitch, you will learn to increase (yo) and decrease (k2tog) to make a diamond and half diamond from corner to corner- increasing to halfway, then decreasing to the other corner. Also, you will learn to make triangles to frame this colourful knit. The design is worked in stranded knitting, where you carry the colours across to form floats on the wrong side.
The Afghan size can be altered by using different weight yarn and different size needles, also knitting more/less motifs.
Crochet is a great way to join together all motifs, giving to your blanket more structure. However, if you want your seams to be less visible use mattress st, or any other you prefer.

SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate.
Stitches used: k, p, yo, k2tog, ssk, k3tog, p3tog.
The pattern comes with written instructions, charts, pictures, schematic.

MATERIALS REQUIRED
Aran (worsted) weight yarn, or any other you love:
• Blue (CC1) - 600g.
• Orange (CC2) - 400g.
• Light Blue (CC3) - 200g (for joining motifs).
NB If you substitute another yarn, please check gauge (tension), yardage and adjust accordingly.
• Circular needle 5.00mm (US 8) x 50cm.
• Circular needle 5.00mm (US 8) x 80cm.
• 1 Tapestry needle.
• 1 Crochet Hook - 3.50mm (US E/4) for joining motifs.

GAUGE (tension): Using 5.00mm (US 8) needles, work a tension square over stockinette st measuring 12 x 12cm. After blocking the gauge measures 15 sts and 23 rows = 10cm (4in).
NOTE Gauge is not crucial for this pattern. Your size depends on your gauge.

MEASUREMENTS AFTER BLOCKING
Afghan: 116cm x 152cm / 46in x 60in.
One size, but the pattern can be customised by using larger/smaller needles and thicker/thinner yarn.
