Description: A colourful lacy Blanket with bold Sunflower Motifs.

I made mine with 80 Sunflower squares to make a large blanket.

Due to to the modular nature, this pattern can be adapted to different sizes - yarn requirements will vary.

I drew inspiration from Nature, Art (Van Gogh’s vivid colours and his famous picture of Sunflowers), Graphic Design (stylized Flowers) and also from countless crochet flowers that i had seen before. I came up with the Flower last summer but I knew that i wanted to develop it further to turn it into a blanket. Then came the long hot summer of 2018 with endless blue skies and so this blanket took shape!

You will need:

Yarn - I used Schachenmayr Catania in the following colours (27 balls) - Finished weight = 1115 g (Scheepjes Catona: Colour codes are identical - and yarn is a perfect equivalent)

146 Turquoise (D) - 8x
426 Brown (A, B) - 2x
388 Fox (A) - 1x
162 Ebony (A) - 2x
208 Gold (B) - 4x
427 Blush (B) - 1x
245 Lime (C) - 3x
205 Dark Lime (C) - 2x
241 Dark Green (C) - 2x
418 Leaf Green (C) - 2x

Crochet hook 4mm

A large eye needle to sew up ends

Stitch markers (useful for layout of colours and to line up squares)

Colouring pens to design your layout or XL Spreadsheet program (free versions available online!)

The following are included:

  • written pattern to make a Blanket including some photos/suggestions how it could be adapted to make other items (no extra patterns provided)
  • extensive photo tutorial
  • XL diagram that shows 10 x 10 flower layout in colour
  • XL diagram with added colour surround
  • XL Blank diagram to design your very own Blanket layout

For personal use only. All sales are final, no refunds given.

Before you start: decide what you will make - a bag, cushion cover, a wrap or a blanket and the size needed . One finished Sunflower square measures approx 17.5 cm (6”) unblocked. You can always extend any rectangle by working a border along the outside.

And don’t forget to share your creations via ravelry (make a project page with photos), instagram, pinterest and other social media with #funkycrochetblanket, #funkysunflowerblanket, #funkysunflower .

Please do not copy or share this pattern in any way or form.

Please respect the hard work and time i have put into not only creating this blanket, but also for taking photos and writing/editing so that you can enjoy it in turn.

Thanks for your support!
