These socks were designed as a prize for “Construction” category of “Sock Challenge Cup” contest.

Both socks of each size are knitted identically, with entrelac blocks facing RS or WS respectively. Each sock is formed in entrelac “on the bias” with foundation blocks starting from provisional cast-on, has internal shaping for the heel and the toe, and then is grafted between tiers zigzagging around the leg.

Techniques Used:

  • entrelac
  • provisional cast-on (any)
  • Jeny’s surprisingly stretchy bind-off
  • stitch-to-row grafting
  • knitting back backwards (desirable)

Gauge:
Entrelac block 11 sts x 21 rows in stockinette = 1⅛”x1½” (3x4 cm)

Note on yarn substitution
Pick up self-striping sock yarn with long gradual color transitions, or highly variegated sock yarn which pools badly.
