Gamla Stan stands for “The Old Town” in Swedish and it’s the historic centre of Stockholm, the capital of Sweden. The old town between bridges.
Gamla Stan has played a prominent role in the history of Swedish architecture. The town dates back to the 13th century and consists of medieval alleyways, cobbled streets, and old merchants’ houses.
Why “Gamla Stan” you may ask me? Well, this December when we spontaneously decided to spend 5 days paying a visit to this lovely city, I realised that I needed a warm hat for this trip.
This graphic of this design reminds me of a lot of pointy roofs covered with snow, a small island, channels and bridges.
I hope you feel it too!

The hat is knitted in the round from the brim upwards on a short circular needle with options for a regular or fold-over brim.
Switch to double-pointed needles when needed or use a longer cable’s magic-loop technique.
