The front of this simple little pillow is knitted diagonally in garter stitch-- no need for a gauge, but you do need to know how to increase and decrease. The gauge stated here is for the overlapping back panels, which are knitted straight in stockinette stitch, with garter stitch borders on the ends that overlap.

The pattern specifies assembling the pieces and seaming in 1 step, with a single-crochet edging; you may seam the pillow together first, followed by the crochet trim, if you prefer.

The ruffly trim (made with TuTu) shown here is optional; it’s added after your first row of single crochet around the pillow edges.
