Capture the quiet energy of a summer sunrise with the Gated Garden Wrap. This piece isn’t just a shawl; it’s a wearable sanctuary that gathers every element of a hidden, sun-drenched retreat into one delightful design.

As the design unfurls, you wander past the latch of a secret fence and across a rhythmic stepping stone border, your needles leading you deeper into the landscape. Along the way, you’ll journey through blooming flowers, fluttering butterflies, and lush leaves—weaving past a weathered garden trellis and the quiet hum of busy bees. Your path finally comes to rest at the far edge of the sanctuary, finishing at a matching perimeter fence that completes your private, “fenced-in” escape.

Yarn Requirements:
The Gated Garden Wrap uses a 12 x 20g or a 7 x 30g mini skein set for the ‘patterned sections’ and a 1 x 400-yard skein of a contrasting main color in fingering-weight yarn.

Color Choices:
Choose a literal palette with earthy greens and browns to map out the garden’s features, or an interpretive gradient to capture the shifting light of a moonlight garden stroll. Whether you opt for soft, dewy pastels or a vibrant riot of color, the sectional design makes it a perfect canvas for playing with mini-skeins and cherished scraps.

Design Elements and Modifications:
This design includes mosaic knitting for the fence and flower borders. The patterned sections (bees, butterflies, trellis, etc.) are simple knit and purl or lace patterns. Many of them have links to helpful videos.

As with all my patterns, the Design Modification Section includes suggestions for modifying this design. You can arrange your colors in whatever way suits you, adding or subtracting sections for length. You can knit some or all of the pattern sections or just knit each panel in garter stitch (for a knit night project). You could even knit the entire wrap in two colors or use a gradient yarn for the patterned sections, making this a flexible pattern that you can knit several times with different outcomes!
