The Sliding Squares Wrap is a blend of simple mosaic knitting combined with garter and stockinette stitches and entertaining color shifts. The design includes two sizes. The small wrap (13” x 80”) uses a 10x20g set of mini skeins and 1x100g skein of a contrast color. The large wrap (18” x 80”) uses a 10x35g set and 110g (a little over 1 skein) of the contrast color. In the Design Modification Section, several possibilities are discussed, including how to use a 12x20g set, 24x10g set, 10g scraps, and even 2 or 3 full skein fade colors.

For those who have never attempted mosaic knitting, this pattern is an excellent place to begin. Each band is designed to use a different square, and I’ve supplied fifteen square design options. You can use your favorite square for the entire shawl or select a different one for each band. If you’re feeling especially adventurous, you can design your own 11x11 stitch square. I have included a link to a handy online mosaic design generator so you can verify that your square is “knitable”.

Jems Luxe Fibers (Rainbow Sample): These are 10x20g mini skein sets with a contrast skein. This is the original colorway or select any of these mini skein sets and a contrasting solid to complete the small size wrap.

Miss Babs (Blue/Brown Sample): You can use a variety of combinations from their yarns, including the original colors or any 10 Yummy 2-ply toes for the large wrap and their mini bundles with a contrast skein for the small wrap.

Sunshine Yarns has some great halfvent sets that would be nice for this design. The Jasper Beach set or the Boho Set would be especially nice!
