The 2024 US presidential election is the most consequential we have ever faced. I felt it was important, as an ordinary citizen, to do what I could to encourage voter participation. This pattern is free and I hope you will consider not only making a hat for all of your friends, but also to use it for fundraising to donate to candidates (school board candidates especially need funds!).

This hat uses bulky yarn for a fast knit and features colorwork in two colors for bold graphics. It’s a simple pattern and I hope that the stranded knitting is easy enough to encourage people who have never tried it to give it a go. The pattern includes 2 options for the stranded section: 1) Vote Biden! and 2) Vote! Vote!

Skill Level: Intermediate

Size: One size for adults

Gauge: 15 sts and 20 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) with larger needles

Needles: US 9 and US 10 (US 10 double pointed needed for crown shaping.

Yarn: Bulky. Less than one 100g skein each color. I used Cascade 128 Superwash.
