Gingerbread Girl Brooch is made in two parts: the doll and her sweater. The doll is knit flat in two identical pieces (front and back) and sewed together using a mattress stitch. After sewing, the gingerbread doll is gently felted (fulled). This makes it firm and able to hold it’s shape and the sweater. Decorate the doll after felting as shown in the sample or maybe add more frosting and sprinkles! The sweater is knit flat for the tiny neckline and increases. Then the yoke is joined in the round for the two colorwork rows and to finish the body and sleeves. Finished brooch is approximately 4” tall. Also makes a perfect Christmas tree ornament!

Materials needed: brown, red, and white yarn in fingering weight, NON superwash 100% wool yarn, in less than 25g amounts. Jamieson & Smith Shetland Supreme Jumper weight was used for the brown and the white yarn in the sample. Harrisville Designs Shetland was used for the red
Either white yarn or white embroidery floss for the embroidered mouth, optional black for eyelashes
Two small safety eyes or use yarn to embroider eyes
One sew-on bar pin
Darning needle, scrap yarn, sewing needle, polyester sewing thread
3.5mm needles in your preferred method for knitting flat and for working in the round. Adjust needle size to gauge

Instructions for felting included.
