Wintertime calls for something sweet and maybe a bit spicy. Gingerbread is a family favorite and inspired these girly mittens.
These mittens are for an advanced beginner to intermediate knitter who is comfortable knitting from charts. There are instructions, with pictures, for Swiss darning.

I’ve included a special feature from my cartoon, “Woolen Spun.”

Materials needed
Two (2) balls of Jamieson & Smith Supreme Jumper Weight (50g, 172m/188yds each) in contrasting colors, or similar fingering weight yarn. Shades 2004 and 2001 were used in the sample.
Optional: Approximately 127cm/50” of contrasting yarn for swiss darning over the Gingerbread Girl’s “buttons.” Jameson & Smith 2 Ply Jumper Weight in Shade 1403 was used in the sample.
2.25mm/US size 1 needles in your preference for working small circumferences, or size needed to obtain gauge. Adjust needle size and gauge to fit mitten to your hand.
One stitch marker and a darning needle
