A treasured Christmas tradition in many countries around the world is the Christmas bake, and perhaps the most famous Christmas cookie is the gingerbread one. With hints of both sweet and spicy it is a treat beloved by young and old. These socks were inspired by the sweetness, fun and whimsy of the gingerbread people!

One size. Finished and blocked socks measure:
Length of the foot: approx. 24 cm/9.4”
Circumference: approx. 21 cm/8.3”
Size can be adjusted by using smaller or larger sized needles. You can also make the socks longer or shorter by starting the toes later or earlier. Measure as you knit along!

Yarn
Used in sample:
MC: Arwetta 827 (Dijon)
CC1: Arwetta 186 (Pale Rose)
CC2: Arwetta 101 (Natural White

Approximate weight needed (if sticking to gauge):
MC: 30-40 g
CC1: 30-40 g
CC2: 15-20 g

One ball of yarn: 50 g = 210 meters/230 yards. You can replace these suggestions with any other yarn of the same weight, preferably a woolmix for socks, for better durability.

Needles: Magic loop or double pointed needles sizes 2 mm/US 0 (for picot edge) and 2.75 mm/US 2 (for colourwork) or whichever size needle is suitable for achieving gauge or change size. If you use magic loop, a cable of about 60-80 cm/25-30” is sufficient.

Other materials needed:
Tapestry needle and scissors
A bit of extra yarn in a contrasting colour
Elastic thread to sew down the picot edge

Gauge for colourwork: Approx. 34 st/37 rows = 10 cm/4”.

Pattern is available in English & Swedish.

Techniques used: Stranded Colourwork, Shortrows, Forethought Heel, Kitchener Stitch.
