Gingham Pencil Case
Tunisian crochet is a different method of crochet (similar to knitting) consisting of a “forward pass” (working right to left and picking up all the stitches in a row) and the “return pass” (working back, left to right, to remove the stitches from the hook).
By changing colour at the end of the forward pass you get this wonderful woven effect which is perfect for the gingham pattern.
Full instructions (with colour photos) are given in the accompanying Stitch Guide for those who have not tried Tunisian crochet before.
As you will only have a maximum of 6 stitches on the hook at any time, there is no need to purchase a special Tunisian hook; a standard crochet hook (without a raised handle) will be fine.
This pencil case was made with Scheepjes Catona yarn, but you can use any 2 shades of 4ply yarn (30g of yarn A, 25g of yarn B).
