The look of Stranded Colourwork with no Strands, no Floats, no Problem.

Mosaic colourwork has you alternating yarn colours, round by round, and using slipped stitches to give the illusion of Stranded Colourwork.

This pattern uses Mosaic Colourwork for the design. It’s a simple repetitive pattern and instructions are provided for Super Chunky, Chunky and Worsted weight yarns. The pattern is also easily customizable, so the hat can be knit for everyone!

Yarn:

This pattern for your choice of Worsted, Chunky, or Super Chunky weight yarn. You will need 2 colours that have a strong contrast for the pattern to be most effective. For each weight yarn you will need the following:

  • Worsted: MC - 100 yds, CC - 45 yds
  • Chunky: MC - 85 yds, CC - 35 yds

For my examples, I used the following yarns:

  • Worsted: Malabrigo Rios in Pocion (MC) and Ivory (CC)
  • Chunky: Malabrigo Mecha in Zelda (MC) and Paris Night (CC)
  • Super Chunky: Malabrigo Rasta in
    Belgian Chocolate (MC) and Almond
    Blossom (CC)
