This basic sock pattern is traditional in every way. It’s knit from the top down and uses standard heel and toe constructions. The textured stitches are borrowed from traditional Gansey knitting and add some interest to your sock, but if you prefer to knit the pattern in plain stockinette, the fit will remain the same if your gauge matches.

This pattern is good for beginner sock knitters. The instructions are written for magic loop but would be easy to convert to DPNs.
