To celebrate Magpie Fibers’ tenth anniversary, I designed something truly special: The Gold Shoulder Sweater. It combines their luxurious Plume yarn, a cashmere and silk blend, with their soft Solo yarn, a single-ply fingering weight that adds a beautiful halo and light texture. Together, these yarns create a delicate, cozy fabric with refined drape and subtle bloom, perfectly highlighting the elegant lace yoke and balloon sleeves. You’ll love knitting this sweater for its balance of elegance and ease—the lace yoke is simple yet striking, with rest rounds every other row for a relaxing, enjoyable knit.

knitters make to gauge or the sweater’s measurements will
change the amount of yarn you’ll need.

GAUGE
20 stitches and 30 rounds = 4” / 10 cm in Stockinette Stitch,
worked in the round on gauge needles, after blocking.
20 stitches and 40 rounds = 4” / 10 cm in Lace Chart Pattern
worked in the round on SMALLER needles, after blocking.
Note: to achieve the same stitch gauge in the lace pattern as
in Stockinette Stitch, I went down a needle size.

NEEDLES*
You’ll need two sizes of circular needles in several lengths.
First, knit a gauge swatch to determine the size needle that
you need for the main body of the sweater. You’ll use a
needle one size smaller for the ribbed neckband and hem.
You’ll use that smaller needle for the lacework as well. For the sample, I used:

US Size 5 / 3.75 mm 16” circular needle, and a magic
loop needle for the ribbed neckband, the lace chart and
the ribbed cuffs.
US Size 6 / 4 mm circular needle, 16” / 40 cm length for
the sweater just below the neckband and 32” / 60cm
length for the body. AND a long needle for the Magic
Loop Method.

Always choose the needle size that you need in order to obtain the pattern’s gauge.
