Everyone’s grandmother or great grandmother had this pillow on their sofa back in the day. I remembered this pillow fondly and tried to find a pattern but could not so I came up with one myself. Traditionally buttons (2) that were covered with a knitted square were used. You can use a couple of big black buttons. The buttons were drawn tight in the middle of the pillow. You can knit this in a variety of colors, but you will want a solid bold or distinct color for the reverse stockinette ridges. This is a great project to use up your scrap yarn! Or go for a more modern look and just use one contrasting color.

You will need a 16 inch pillow form and 2 shank style1.5 in buttons or regular black buttons.
