Knitting, like any new hobby, can be a little tricky when you are just starting out. But just because you are a beginner knitter, it doesn’t mean you can’t create beautiful knitted item. Or might you want to improve your knitting skills before you start much bigger projects?
So, if you have some yarn stash, or you love to take your knitting with you where you go, like me - this pattern is exactly what you need! Use any oddments you have. Not only will you be the proud owner of a one-off unique design, but you will also have reduced the amount of yarn hiding in every cupboard (because we’ve all done it!!).
You need to know how to work cables and simple stitches as knit, purl, knit two together and yarn over.

SKILL LEVEL: Easy.

MATERIALS REQUIRED:
• 3 x 50g balls (270m or 295.3yds) using Rico Creative Melange (Chunky) grey (shade 007).
• 1 x 50g ball (90m or 98.4yds) using Rico Creative Melange (Chunky) white (shade 001).
NB If you substitute another yarn, please check gauge (tension) and yardage and adjust accordingly.
• 2 Straight needles - 6.5mm (US 10 1/2).
• 1 Crochet hook - 4mm (US G6).
• 1 Cable needle.
• 1 Tapestry needle.
• 5 Buttons.
MEASUREMENTS AFTER BLOCKING:

43cm x 43cm.
16.9ins x 16.9ins.

GAUGE (Tension): 12sts and 24rows = 10 cm (4ins), garment being blocked and measured over garter st, using 6.5mm (US 10 1/2) needle.
NB Needle size is only a guide- if you get too many stitches for 10cm, take a larger needle size. If you get too few stitches for 10cm, take a smaller needle size. It’s very important to check your gauge (tension) before starting as working to the wrong tension will mean your pillowcase won’t be size shown.
