The Gridlac shawl is knit in one piece using an easy method called entrelac, and then the border is worked afterward by picking up stitches and knitting a few rows of garter stitch on each side.

Each square is worked individually, beginning at the bottom tip. As you progress upward, you will pick up stitches from previous squares and attach them as you knit each new square. You may find yourself saying, “Just one more square!” by the time you get the hang of it, for this is an enticingly addictive pattern!

For more advanced knitters, this is a great way to practice your backwards knitting technique, and then you don’t have to turn the shawl as you work the squares. If you are not familiar with this technique, there are some good YouTube videos of this available.

The pattern also mentions using other sizes of yarn and how to adjust the stitch and row numbers accordingly.

Please note that I will not be releasing any new patterns on Ravelry (unless they actually address issues caused by the new design). You can view and purchase patterns directly on my website (https://www.horse-round.com) or from LoveCrafts.
