Griffin is my third sock pattern with full stranded colorwork. I simply love to play with geometric motifs and colors. I’ve mixed here a pretty herringbone-like pattern with stripes. Also, I wouldn’t be myself, if I didn’t create an original-looking gusset. The stitches are decreased unusually, along the sole of the sock.

I’ve used in my socks the colorwork pattern from the “Alterknit Stitch Dictionary” by Andrea Rangel.

Sizes
{ 1 – 64sts, 2 – 72sts, 3 – 80sts }
Finished foot circumference, unstretched: { 18.8, 21.1, 23.5 } cm / { 7.5, 8.5, 9.4 } ”
The socks were designed to be worn with small negative ease in width (about 1-1.5cm / 0.4-0.6”).

Yarn
For a pair of socks you will need about 50g (210m / 230y) of any sock yarn in fingering weight in each color.
MC: { 190, 200, 210 } m / { 210, 220, 230 } y; CC: { 120, 130, 140 } m / { 135, 145, 155 } y.
Note: The yardage is estimated and depends on sock length. 50g (210m / 230y) of yarn in MC should be enough to make socks up to size 3 for a foot length about 25cm / 10” long ( size EU 41). To make longer socks, you will need more yarn in MC.

Needles
2.5 mm / US #1.5 circular needles for magic loop or DPNS, or size needed to get the proper gauge;
