The Guava Lava Sweater is a top-down raglan featuring a continuous 1x1 twisted rib detail that flows seamlessly from the collar, down the yoke, and along the sleeves to the cuffs. The sweater begins with a folded collar then German short rows, followed by size specific compound increase rates for the sleeves and body to create a balanced fit across all sizes. The body is then joined in the round at the underarms and worked straight to a folded hem. Sleeves are worked top-down and are available in short, medium, or long lengths.

The yellow version is knit with Cascade Yarns Cantata in 31 Lemon Ice, and the pink version is Cascade Yarns Cantata Hand Paints in 210 Sherbet. This is a 70% cotton 30% merino blown yarn offered in solid & variegated colors. It knits up very lightweight and airy.

I recommend using a worsted weight yarn with a slightly “sticky,” woolly, or fluffy texture. Superwash or silkier yarns may be more prone to showing tension inconsistencies, particularly in the twisted rib sections and increase areas.

For example: Genevieve is 5’10” with a 33” chest measurement. She’s wearing the yellow version in a size S for 5” of ease and the pink/white version in a size M for 9” of ease. The pink is shown with the long sleeve length and the yellow is the medium sleeve length, both are knit to pattern for body length.
