The Guideline Hood is for those in-between days when it’s too chilly to go without, but not quite cold enough for a hat. It keeps your ears and neck warm without flattening your hair and can be pulled down around your neck and worn as a cozy cowl when you step indoors. Guideline got its inspiration from graphic wayfinding markings on streets. Clean lines and polished details combined with a soft fabric make this hood an easy-to-wear accessory with a modern, understated look.

Construction
The hood is worked seamlessly from the top down. The crown is shaped with short rows, then stitches are picked up around the top piece to work the hood. The hood is worked flat until the front edges are joined below the chin, after which the neck is worked in the round. A split is then created at the back neck, and the remainder of the neck is worked flat.

A folded stockinette casing with small buttonholes encloses the I-cord drawstring, allowing the opening to be worn loose or cinched closer around the neck when needed. I filmed a little Youtube tutorial to guide you through the more difficult parts. Check it out here: https://youtu.be/AanEqnWqjBM

YARN AND YARDAGE
100 (150) g of Knits by Cindy Ekman Pure Merino (100% merino, 230 m / 50 g) held together with 50 (75) g of Knits by Cindy Ekman Soft Silk Mohair (70% super kid mohair, 30% silk, 210 m / 25 g) or 410 (500) m / 450 (550) yards of DK-weight yarn held single.

NEEDLES
4 mm circular needles (preferred cable length for knitting both flat and in the round)
3.5 mm circular needles (preferred cable length for the face edging)
3 mm circular needles (preferred cable length for the face edging)

GAUGE 23 sts x 30 rows / rounds worked in the textured pattern with the largerst needles (suggested 3.5 mm) both flat and in-the-round, blocked.
