The Hanmer Hat is inspired by the beautiful New Zealand bush,
with it’s mix of native and introduced trees and plants. It’s named after Hanmer Forest which personifed this.
Enjoy a classic fold-up brim beanie with a section of fun stranded colorwork knitting.

CONSTRUCTION:
Knit from the bottom up in the round in one piece

Sizing:
This beanie comes in one size, suited to fit most adults and older children. If you’d like to make it smaller or larger, I recommend changing needle sizes. Bear in mind yarn quantities may change.

Size: approx. 51cm/20 in in circumference, and 25.5cm/10in tall.

Needles:
4 mm/US Size 6 needle (40 cm length recommended) 4 mm/US Size 6 double-pointed needles (or longer circular for magic loop if preferred) Or needle sizes to obtain gauge

Notions:
Tapestry needle (for finishing)
Stitch Markers- 5 total, including 1 distinct

Yarn:
Brushtail Yarns Upcycled Possum Merino
Or similar yarn that can achieve gauge

Quantity Needed:
Color 1 (Firefy): 82 metres/ 89 yards
Color 2 (Red): 14 metres/ 15 yards
Color 3 (Natural Light): 82 metres/ 89 yards

Note: One full skein of each colour should be enough to make both the hat and matching Hanmer Mitts
