NOTES ON THE PATTERN
The runic letters can be found on the Eidsvåg stone, a ten feet tall bauta discovered on Vollane in Eidsvåg, just north of the city of Bergen in Norway in 1901 during av clearing of the fields. Archaeologists were called in and excavated the large runestone that marked a fire pit from the Early Iron Age (150 - 500 AD) surrounded by a circle of pebbles. The runes say HaoaRaR, which may mean “the moving one” and can refer to that the person buried here was a shaman, and thus could move between worlds; physical and spiritual, past, present and future. Those who claimed such abilities had leading roles in the community, and the area on Vollane could have been a political and religious center in the local community. The Eidsvåg stone can be seen at the historical museum at the University of Bergen.

The runes are both sounds and and pictogram.
ᚺ is H and means hail
ᚨ is A and means god
ᛟ is O and means inheritance
ᛉ is R (pronounced as English r) and means moose
A number of archaeological finds have been made on Vollane, and indicates Stone Age settlements, Iron Age farming and a hub for traffic between east and west for thousands of years.
