This top down sweater was designed with my favorite (only) daughter in mind. She is brave and bold and a kind of everything-on-it, maximalist kind of human. Her current favorite artist is Billy Eillish and Eillish’s most recent album is called “Happier Than Ever.” This sweater is an homage to that song and to my kid.

In worsted weight, it makes sense to make this outer layer with 2 - 4” / 5 - 10 cm of positive ease.

Yarn estimates are approximate and will be effected by your gauge. Substituting yarn types may also effect yarn quantities.

Gauge
18 stitches and 26 rounds= 4” / 10 cm in Colorwork Pattern on larger needles.
Note: It’s common for knitters to knit more tightly in the round, over a small circumference like a sleeve than they do when knitting over larger fields of sts. If this is a concern for you, consider going up a needle size when you’re knitting the sleeves. Your swatch will be your guide.

Suggested Needles*
US Size 6 / 4 mm circular needle, 16” / 40 cm / length for the neckline AND 24 - 40” / 60-100 cm length (depending on the size you’ve chosen) for the hem ribbing.
US Size 7 / 4.5 mm 24 - 40” / 60-100 cm length (depending on the size you’ve chosen) for the sweater yoke and body.
Double pointed needles of the same sizes suitable for small circumference knitting for the sleeves.
Always choose the needle size that you need in order to obtain the pattern’s gauge.
