This textured, one-skein scarf is the little sister of the Hara Pillar Shawl and is knitted with the so-called “Indian Pillar Stitch”. The “Indian Pillar Stitch” is an easy-to-remember repeat of 2 rows, but looks very interesting on both sides of the scarf. For the choice of the name, I stayed close to my love for green yarn, “Hara” which means green in Hindi and “Pillar” for the stitch.

The scarf is knitted in “Indian Pillar Stitch” from a narrow point with I-cord borders and increases on one side. The middle section of the scarf is knitted in 3/1 ribbing, followed by the decreased section in “Indian Pillar Stitch” onto a narrow point.
This shape makes the scarf easy to wear.

This scarf only uses one skein of yarn, so let’s get those lonely skeins out of your stash and make a Hara Pillar Scarf for yourself or as a gift for someone special!

Finished measurements
The scarf measures approximately 160 cm wingspan and is 35 cm wide.
The size can easily be adapted. You knit and increase up to half of your skein and then start decreasing.
