The first chill of autumn may strike fear in the hearts of some, calling to mind the deeper chill of winter; but for the seasoned knitter, it is the initiation of a wool-clad heyday. These unisex cabled mitts are a perfect complement to weather just turning frosty. Aran weight yarn makes a warm and quick knit.

Stretchy, rib-based fabric fits most; adjust yarn weight and needles by one size to accommodate smaller or larger hands.

Mitt is knit in the round upward from the cuff, with a built-in thumb gusset; thumb ribbing is finished after main knitting is completed. Photos are provided to demonstrate increases, as well as a wordless video.

Pattern provides fully charted and fully written options, making an approachable knit for adventurous beginners looking to step up their game with something small and satisfying.

Skills needed:
* knitting a small circumference in the round (magic loop
technique recommended, DPNs also
appropriate)
* simple cable knitting
