Harlequin Hugs
Overview
I created this design for my youngest son, who can be a little picky about what he puts on his head, and had recently moved out on his own. This way, at least when it’s cold, I can imagine giving him a warm hug.
Yarn
Each piece is knit with worsted weight yarn in two contrasting colors. The scarf requires 155 yards (142m) of Dark Color and 190 yards (174m) of Light Color. The hat requires 65 yards (60m) of Dark Color and 50 yards (46m) of Light Color.
Size
As written, the scarf measures 80” in length and 7” in width, (203 x 18cm). The hat measures 8.25” (21cm) in height and its circumference stretches from 18” (46cm) as knit to comfortably fit the average adult head of 22”-24” (56-61cm)
Difficulty
The scarf is perfect for confident beginners on up. Stitches used include garter stitch and slipped stitches with yarn in front and in back. Instructions for a two stitch i-cord edge are included, but a simple garter stitch edge will look just as nice. The hat requires the same stitches, worked in the round, and includes simple decreases: knit two together, slip slip knit and centered double decreases.
Languages
Currently, the pattern is only available in English.
Format
The pattern includes both written and charted instructions. The charts are shown in two ways, one with the slipped stitches noted using typical chart symbols and one in black and white often used in mosaic knitting.
This pattern is for personal use only.
