This is a convertible hat/cowl that includes the directions to make either a toque/beanie style hat with a narrow cowl or a slouch style hat with a wider cowl. You have personal freedom within this pattern to make it your own fashion statement, using the notations provided.

You can choose whatever type of yarn you would like for this pattern, as gauge is not important. Depending on size, yarn and style chosen, your amount of yarn can vary. For an adult woman slouch hat (which uses more yarn) that uses about 5 oz of worsted.

Stitches used: Fsc (or chain if you prefer), dec, ch, sl st, sc, hdc, dc. There is also a V Puff Stitch, which is explained in the pattern. This pattern is for an Advanced Beginner-due to the slightly more complicated stitch.

You will have to make a drawstring closure, and if you have not made one before it is a very fun (and easy) technique to learn. I provide a video link to this process in the pattern.

This pattern has been tested for errors and is ready for your imagination and creativity!
