Hat Like a Wheel is a classic cabled hat worked in the round from the bottom-up. The ribbing flows into the cables for the body of the hat, and is decreased in pattern to the crown.

The pattern includes 2 sizes, both of which can be worked with either a short or folded brim, and with or without slouch. Make it as a beanie or a slouchy hat with an optional pompom.

The hat is quite stretchy, and the medium will fit a head measuring anywhere from 19-22” in circumference. Bigger noggins will likely prefer the large size. For children, the pattern may be easily scaled down by casting on only 88 sts (a multiple of 11) and following the remainder of the pattern.

Materials:
For the beanie (fitted..no slouch):

1(1) skein of Swan’s Island Pure Blends Worsted (250 yds/100 g), or
1(1) skein Malabrigo Rios (210 yds/skein), or
(1)skein of Plymouth’s Merino Worsted (218 yds/skein), or approx
140(160) yards of worsted weight yarn.

For the folded rib, slouchy version:
1(1) skein of Swan’s Island Pure Blends Worsted (250 yds/100 g), or
1(2) skein Malabrigo Rios (210 yds/skein), or
1(2)skein of Plymouth’s Merino Worsted (210 yds/skein), or approx:
207(240) yards of worsted weight yarn.

An extra ~5 yards required for the optional pompom.
