This hat pattern is for a textured ribbed hat, knit on any loom with a multiple of 6 pegs. Match your yarn to your loom gauge - Bulky for a larger gauge of 1/2” or so (for example, 36-peg green Knifty Knitter, or 48 large pegs Martha Stewart) or worsted for 3/8” (Adjustable Hat Loom or small pegs Martha Stewart).

2 identical files are available for download. One is 24 point font for low vision accessibility. This pattern has 24 point, all black, sans serif text, with no italics and fully written directions.

Recommended sizes:

  • 36 pegs, large gauge: teen/adult small
  • 48 pegs, large gauge: adult medium/large
  • 96 pegs, small gauge: adult medium/large
  • 24 pegs, large gauge: infant

Materials:

  • knitting loom, with pegs in a multiple of 6. Hat is knit in the round
  • loom pick tool
  • scissors
  • peg markers (optional, if you prefer to mark rather than count)

Yarn: original hat was knit using nearly 1 skein of Charisma. Solids and stripes work equally well. Less bulky yarn will use more yardage, but in general, this is a single skein pattern. Use matching yarn weights in different colors as a stashbuster.

Skills: casting on in the round, flat knit, plain knit or e-wrap knit, purl, graduated drawstring cast off.
