Hati is a cabled, warm hat featuring a rich texture. It can be worked in two ways: using a single colour of aran weight yarn to create a solid hat, or using two strands of DK weight yarn in two different colours to create a striped hat.

Hati is best worked in a warm, natural yarn to give a slightly rustic feel. Combine an earthy tone with a bright and happy shade to create a unique but very wearable hat.

Hati is named after one of Saturn’s moons.

Sizing
Hati comes in 2 different sizes: child (to fit heads up to 48cm (19”)) and adult (to fit heads up to 60cm (23.5”)).

Yarn
Hati can be worked with 2 yarn weights: you can use 2 strands of DK weight yarn in 2 different colours to create the striped version, or you can use a single strand of aran weight yarn to create the solid version.

Needles
You will need size 4mm/US6 circular needles for the brim, and size 5mm/US8 for the body of the hat. You may also wish to use DPNs in the larger size to work the crown.

Gauge
Gauge is 23 stitches x 28 rows in 10x10cm (4”x4”) - this is in the main pattern repeat on 5mm needles.

Extras
You will also need a cable needle, a tapestry needle and a stitch marker. A pompom is optional

Example hats
The lavender sample hat is worked in 1/7 Colourmart cashmere (4 strands held together, colour Confetti), and the striped sample is worked in 10/28 Colourmart cashmere (2 strands held together, colours Bright pink and Oats).
