Construction
Calling all medieval enthusiasts! Make your own Hauberk Hat!
Originating in the medieval world, the Hauberk was originally a piece of chain mail armor that consisted of protection on the neck and shoulders. Over time, the armor extended to cover the abdomen and lower mid sections. The hauberk was originally made by using interlocking metal loops to form a coat of armor. While one of the lightest forms of armor, the Hauberk is known to be quite heavy! Hauberk hat is the sister pattern to the Hauberk cardigan but takes second to not one! It is full of detail, rich in cables, and knit with an (optional) extra long rib to be folded and add a little extra warmth to the ears. The cables travel all the way to the crown ending with a compass rose design. The original pattern is worked using Malabrigo Rios in the color Wholegrain. Cable pattern is worked in chart only. This pattern has not made it through all stages of testing.
