The Hazel Market Bag is the replacement for your Fall and Winter Beanie addiction! Now that Spring has come, it’s time to start getting ready for Farmer’s Markets and trips to the park and beach! And this bag is the perfect accessory. Plus reusable grocery bags are so Eco-friendly.

This Market Bag Pattern comes in three sizes small, medium, and large. It also has three different strap/ handle options: a single shoulder strap, double shoulder straps, and double short handles! This pattern is worked in the round, bottom up, using half double crochet and V Stitches! This makes this pattern pretty easy! If you are ONLY interested in the small size pattern, you can check that out FOR FREE on my blog, The Yarn that Binds Us!

If you intend to use a yarn that IS NOT the Yarn Bee Soft and Sleek yarn, I recommend using a medium weight yarn that leans more towards the Bulky Weight (5) yarn than the Light (3) Weight yarn. For instance, I would not recommend a medium weight yarn such as Lion Brand’s Pound of Love yarn because although it is technically a Medium (4), it tends to be thinner and leans towards a Light (3) weight yarn.

Assume all stitches are worked in both loops unless otherwise noted in the pattern.

Did you know when crocheting the half double crochet stitch, there are three loops, not just two? If you turn your HDC work towards you, you will notice a third loop behind the two standard loops you are used to! In this pattern, we will be working in that “third back loop” often. If you need help visualizing, there is a picture tutorial for this in the pattern!

Although I do recommend utilizing the gauge swatch, do not worry too much about obtaining gauge! You will find it very easy to add or subtract rounds to get the bag dimensions you desire!

Gauge Swatch dimensions: 4.5 inches x 6.5 inches Gauge Swatch pattern: 1. 22 HDC across for 4 rows 2. then (DC. ch2. v st. Repeat from across to end. ch2. dc in last hdc.) 3. Repeat parenthesis twice for 3 Vst rows. 4. 22 HDC across

The single shoulder strap is worked in two parts. Because of this, I have included a picture tutorial for that as well!
