Heart of Winter Mittens
Inspired by knitting traditions across Northern Europe, these mittens incorporate the Latvian braid technique with classic Nordic motifs and shaping.
Colourwork is charted.
Size: One size, approx 8.5” (21cm) circumference and 9” (23cm) from cuff to tip.
Size can be adjusted by using larger or smaller needles which will give you a slightly looser or tighter gauge. Note that this will affect the yardage required.
Yarn:
2 colours of DK weight yarn, approx 82y (75m) of each
Gauge:
30st & 33 rows per 4” (10cm) in stranded colourwork after blocking
Needles & Notions:
- 3.25mm needles in your preferred format for small circumference knitting. You could use DPNs, 9-10” circulars or long circulars for magic loop
- Stitch markers
- Waste yarn
- Tapestry needle to weave in ends
