Let’s get ready for Valentines Day (or any day you wan to wear some awesome socks! These easy socks are a great way to start your colorwork socks journey. Working only a small section in stranded colorwork makes these stripey socks fly off your needles.
YARN
330 (380, 430, 480) yards of fingering weight/sockweight yarn
Sample uses Scheepjes Arcadia Solid in color 816 Midnight (100 grams/396 meters) as color A and Schoppel Zauberball Crazy in color 2546 Warm Botanical Garden (100 grams/420 meters) as color B.
For all sizes: 1 main color and 1 contrast color are enough. Keep in mind that making the socks longer or having a different gauge might result in more or less yardage needed.
NEEDLES
Using size US 1.5 (2.50 mm) and US2 (3.00 mm) or any size to obtain gauge.
Keep in mind that most knitters knit tighter when doing colorwork. Sample was made using 2.50 mm for the regular stockinette stitch and 3.00 mm for the stranded colorwork
NOTIONS
Stitch markers, scissors and a darning needle
GAUGE
30 stitches and 46 rounds = 4”in stockinette stich and in colorwork, knit in the round
When checking for gauge please knit as to how the pattern is designed. For example, if the pattern is knit in the round you want to make your gauge swatch knit in the round as well.
