These pretty hearts make ideal gifts – they look lovely hung from just about anywhere. If you put dried lavender inside they are also ideal for hanging in the wardrobe or in your car.

Samples are shown in the following yarns:

Eden Cottage Yarns Askham 4ply (70% baby alpaca, 30% silk; 400m / 436yds per 100g skein)
Shade: Blossom

Eden Cottage Yarns Milburn 4ply (85% superwash Bluefaced Leicester, 15% silk; 200m / 218yds per 50g skein)
Shade: Steel; 1 x 50g skein

Note: This project is perfect for mini skeins or using up small amounts of Eden Cottage 4ply yarns as each heart uses about 10g.

Needles and Accessories
2.5mm (US 1 - 2) double pointed needles, or size required to obtain correct gauge
Waste yarn
Stitch markers
Stuffing (polyester stuffing and optional lavender / other dried flowers)
Tapestry needle
Scissors
Optional instead of I-cord – ribbon for hanging hearts.

Size
Approx. 8.5cm (3.5in) across at widest point x 7.5cm (3in) high

Gauge
8.5sts x 1 rows to 2.5cm (1in) over stocking stitch after blocking.

Please note that whilst gauge is not crucial, it will affect the finished measurements of your item. Opt for a needle size that will give you a dense fabric (e.g. 2-2.5mm for 4ply), in order that the stuffing does not show through.
