This pattern is perfect for a beginning lace knitter, but interesting enough for more experienced knitters.
Stitches used, k, p, yo, & 1/1 cross - right and left.
All fancy stuff is done on the right side.

Based on a fisherman’s scarf, the middle portion is knit in a ribbing -to lie smoothly against the neck. The entire scarf has a seed stitch border, so that it will lie flat and show off the hearts.

This pattern is knit in 2 halves and grafted together at the edge of the neck ribbing

Pattern revised to include line-by-line directions for lace, in addition to chart. (2016)
