Heartwood Beanie
About
The Heartwood Beanie is a seamless hat worked in the round from the bottom up. Inspired by its namesake, heartwood - the older, darker wood that provides strength and stability to the cores of larger trees, this hat features a neat column of heart-shaped cables flowing from the brim up into the crown.
The pattern includes both written and charted instructions, and is suitable for confident beginner to intermediate knitters.
Construction
Stitches are cast on and worked in rib for the brim. The cable pattern is then worked across one quarter of the design, while the rest is worked in stockinette. Stitches are decreased at intervals to shape the crown, before being cast-off. As an optional extra, a faux fur pom-pom is attached at the crown for added decoration.
