The story behind this pattern:

Bicycles

With Cleo’s parents, we share a garage. It houses our shared bikes. Us on the right, them on the left. The bikes tell our life story. For instance, there are two ladies’ bikes in there that clearly date from before we had children: a bit rusty, not so well maintained and not so sturdy either. But getting rid of them, no, we don’t. We keep it as a spare bike, so to speak, for later.

There are also several children’s bikes in various sizes along our side. Whether I can get rid of them I ask my boys? Maybe Cleo could ride it? No, no, Mum, we want to keep them, we still cycle with them sometimes. For fun. And so there are several not-so-well-maintained children’s bikes along our side. But a life story is also unfolding on the left side of the garage, as slowly, but surely, bikes are added there too: Hello Sweeties!

Is this the same with you? Or do you have this with other objects? I am curious.
