PATTERN OVERVIEW
The sweater is worked from the top down with a European shoulder construction. The piece is worked in a version of broken rib in which two stitches are worked in stockinette stitch and one stitch is purled every third row.
First, the neck stitches are cast on, and the back piece is worked back and forth while increases are made first for the shoulders and later for the armholes. Stitches for the left and right front shoulders are picked up, and increases are made for the neck. Stitches are cast on at the bottom of the neckline, and the front is worked back and forth down to the armhole. The front and back are placed on the same circular needle, and the body is worked in the round, ending with a 1x1 rib at the bottom, bound off with Italian bind off. Stitches are picked up for the sleeves. These are worked with short rows and then in the round, ending with a 1x1 ribbing, bound off with Italian bind off. Stitches are picked up for a folded 1x1 ribbing around the neck, bound off with a crocheted bind off.
